Six students completed their first of two summers in a paid Survey Tech internship

What: Mayor Kenney and city officials will gather to celebrate the six high school students who have completed their first summer in a full-time, paid internship with the Streets Department’s Survey Bureau. Students have spent the summer building their career and problem-solving skills while supporting field teams of surveyors. All six students represent the three high schools that are city-designated Community Schools: South Philadelphia High School, Murrell Dobbins CTE High School, and Kensington Health Sciences Academy. Upon completion of the two-summer internship program and graduation from high school, each student is eligible to take the civil service exam to become an Engineering Aide 2 with the City of Philadelphia. The celebration will also include a formal recognition of the Survey Tech Internship as a meaningful career pathway and example of the “City as a Model Employer” strategy.
