What: Deputy Mayor Rich Lazer and Director of Community Schools Susan Gobreski will visit a job training program that is preparing 75 North Philadelphia residents for guaranteed union jobs in the food service industry. The program, organized by UNITE HERE, has created job training opportunities and job opportunities for residents of the community surrounding Dobbins CTE High School, a city-designated Community School. The training program, which began in late July and ends this week, provides an example of how Community Schools successfully identify and address the unique needs of each school community and how organizations can partner with schools and the City to provide programs and services to families and neighbors.
Note: While the program is affiliated with Dobbins HS, the program is using Strawberry Mansion HS facilities while Dobbins undergoes renovations this summer.
