USA Today recently named Philadelphia one of the ten best places to see street art in the entire world. This summer, the city is going even further with 57 new public art pieces.

The project, called “Donkeys Around Town,” involves dozens of donkey sculptures placed across the city to commemorate the Democratic National Convention coming to Philly.

“This unique art installation features 57 fiberglass donkeys,” explains the Host Committee, “representing the 50 states, five U.S. territories, Washington, D.C., and Democrats Abroad. Each donkey will depict iconic images of the state or territory it represents as well as the name of its state or territory and will be painted by a local Philadelphia-area artist.”

Philadelphians won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind art exhibit—and photo opportunity—which runs July 1– September 5, 2016. During the exhibition, there’ll be a scavenger hunt organized by the Host Committee, too.

The project is a collaboration between 30 local artists, the Mural Arts Program, Art Jawn, Visit Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia, and the DNC Host Committee.

For more information on “Donkeys Around Town” or the scavenger hunt, visit the DNC Host Committee’s website. Be sure to follow them on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to stay updated on the most recent news relating to the convention.
