Locals and visitors alike have many more than just four options for how to have fun and make the most of the historic Democratic National Convention, but these four today are some of our favorite highlights — and they’re perfect for locals just wanting to have fun or conventioneers looking to catch some local vibes.

  1. Make Art Philly Day: Make Art Philly is a day of art-making and crafting all around the theme of voting from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in City Hall’s historic courtyard.
  2. Center City Sips: Every Wednesday during summer, Center City Sips features drink specials and timely parties at local watering holes. This week, Sips promises to be the biggest this year celebrating the convention and #DNCDeals — plus, there’ll be special extended Sips hours at Dilworth Park!
  3. Shakespeare in Clark Park and Parks on Tap: West Philly’s beloved bucolic nexus enjoys a twofer today as Parks on Tap, the family-friendly beer garden that benefits Philly parks, sets up shop at the park along Chester and Baltimore avenues the same day Shakespeare in Clark Park returns!
  4. Passyunk Passeggiata Street Festival: East Passyunk Avenue stays true to its image as one of Philadelphia’s most enjoyable corridors to shop, stroll, and eat with this six-hour street festival featuring a fresh market, music, food and drink specials, the monthly LGBT QOTA happy hour, and the DNC Heritage Festival.

The Democratic National Convention continues today and tomorrow, concluding on the evening of Thursday, July 28. Be sure to follow @PhiladelphiaGov on Twitter for the latest information on the Democratic National Convention as well as dispatches relating to City programs and events.
