The Philadelphia Department of Revenue has granted businesses and individuals an extra day to file and pay taxes this year. Taxpayers now have until midnight on April 18 to file and pay Business Income & Receipts Tax (BIRT), Net Profits Tax (NPT), and School Income Tax (SIT).

The move came after the IRS extended its filing deadline by a day. On Tuesday morning, the IRS encountered system issues, preventing people from filing returns by the original deadline. The IRS reported that its processing systems were back online later in the day.

The Philadelphia Department of Revenue’s systems processed City returns as normal on Tuesday. Even so, Revenue gave taxpayers an extra day to file and pay, matching the IRS. No action is needed to receive either extension.
