Skateboard Camp

Learn from a pro! This specialty camp will be taught by a professional skateboarder and local teens who are regular competitors.

Ages: Children ages 6-12
Dates: Session 1: June 25-June 29, 2018. Session 2: August 13-August 17, 2018.
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Location: Rizzo Rink (1001 Front Street, 19147)
Cost: $50 per one-week session

Camp Philly

This program, presented in partnership with the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA, provides an opportunity for Philadelphia children to attend a one-week overnight camp in the Pocono Mountains. Opened in 1948, Camp Speers is a 1,100-acre property with a 40-acre private secluded lake.

Ages: Children ages 9-12
Dates: Session 1: August 12-August 17, 2018. Session 2: August 19-August 24, 2018.
Time: Overnight camp takes place from Sunday through Friday. All meals will be provided.
Location: Camp Speers (143 Nichecronk Rd, Dingmans Ferry, PA 18328)
Cost: $30 registration fee for the 1-week program. Campers that are selected to participate will receive a scholarship equaling $900 in value to attend Camp Philly!
Registration: 200 children will be selected by recreation leaders for this opportunity.

Summer Art Camp

A lively and creative place for young artists to spend their summer. Participants have the opportunity to build their portfolio of artwork with many quality pieces. Lessons range from drawing and painting, to sculpture and printmaking, to more digital platforms like photography.

Ages: 7-17
Dates: July 2-August 10, 2018.
Time: 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Locations: Wissinoming Park (4035-55 E Cheltenham Avenue, 19130), Fisher Park (571 W. Spencer Street, 19120), and Parkside Evans Playground (5300 Parkside Ave., 19131)
Cost: $200 for one three-week session. $350 for the entire six-week session.

Introduction to the Performing Arts Camp

Specialty camp for younger children who have expressed an interest in the performing arts. This unique experience gives youngsters the chance to perform in a professional space and take classes in movement, drama, and music.

Ages: Children ages 6 to 10
Dates: July 2-August 10, 2018.
Time: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Lunch and snack will be provided daily.
Locations: Holmesburg Recreation Center (4300 Rhawn Street, 19136), Hawthorne Cultural Center (1200 Carpenter Street, 19147), 48th & Woodland Playground (1414 S. 47th Street, 19143), and Waterview Recreation Center (5826 McMahon Street, 19144)
Cost: $300 for the six-week program. There is aftercare service available until 5 p.m. for an additional fee of $30 per week or $150 in advance for all six weeks.

Older children and teens interested in theater can audition for Young Performers Theater Camp! Campers will spend the summer on professional stages and put on productions of “Shrek, Jr.,” “In the Heights,” “Rent,” and “Jekyll and Hyde.” Learn more about Young Performers Theater Camp.

 

Be Outside Teen Adventure Program

A multi-dimensional experience for teens! Youth will be introduced to a variety of outdoor programs and activities – like kayaking, rock climbing, zip lining, and hiking– that will improve their skills, determination, and self-confidence. They’ll also enjoy knowledge enrichment focused on career exploration, social responsibility, and physical activity, all with an outdoor theme.

Ages: Teens ages 12-14
Dates: June 25-August 2, 2018.
Time: Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Locations: Gustine Recreation Center (4868 Ridge Avenue, 19129) and Chalfont Playground (4430-40 Deerpath Lane, 19114)
Cost: $300 for the six-week program

Swim for Life Camp

This camp encourages children to participate in aquatics programs, provides a wholesome recreation experience in a safe and healthy environment, and teaches participants sportsmanship through physical activity. Camp includes the “Competitive Program” for experienced swimmers and the “Learn To Swim Program” for kids who want to learn how to swim.

Ages: Children ages 9-15
Dates: July 2-August 10, 2018.
Time: 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily.
Locations: Cohocksink Recreation Center (2889 Cedar Street, 19134) and Lee Cultural Center (4328 Haverford Avenue, 19104)
Cost: $180 for the six-week program
