The City of Philadelphia has authorized private collection agencies and co-counsel to help collect outstanding debts owed to the City. These companies may use “dunning” (frequently contacting someone about their debt), phone calls, and legal action to ensure that accounts receivable are collected.
The following collection agencies are currently under contract for collections of outstanding tax and water bill balances:
- Alliance One
- Goehring, Rutter & Boehm (GRB)
- Harris & Harris
- Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP (Linebarger or LBR)
- Pioneer
- Revenue Collection Bureau, Inc (RCB)
- Salaman Law
- Wong Fleming
Please note that GRB and LBR are authorized to take delinquent properties to sheriff sale on the City’s behalf.
