Out-of-School Time Services (OST)
Studies show that young people are most likely to participate in risky behaviors during the hours of 3 p.m.–6 p.m., after school ends and before their caregivers return home. DHS responds to this need by funding 67 agencies that provide high-quality after-school and summer programs at 170 sites for youth in grades K to 12.
Where: These programs take place in schools and community-based centers across Philadelphia.
When: OST programs have openings throughout the school year (September to June) and summer (July to August).
Who: OST programming is open to all youth in Philadelphia, but families receiving any type of DHS services will be given preference.
