Get bereavement support

In some cases, the Medical Examiner’s Office (MEO) is able to provide bereavement support to grieving families.

MEO’s bereavement support helps families who:

  • Experienced the sudden unexpected loss of an infant.
  • Lost a loved one to homicide.
  • Lost a loved one to suicide.

Where and when

If your family experienced the sudden unexpected loss of an infant, you may receive free counseling from a bereavement social worker in your home.

Our crisis care coordinators reach out to the families of those who have lost a loved one to homicide or suicide.

You can also get support by coming into the MEO office during regular business hours.

Bereavement support staff members can refer families to other agencies for most medical or social service needs – including, but not limited to, burial or cremation assistance.
