Achieving Independence Center (AIC)

Enhancing education and building independent living skills in current and former DHS-involved teens and young adults.

About

The Achieving Independence Center (AIC) provides resources, classes, employment, and housing services to youth who are preparing to age out of the system.

Transitioning to adulthood can be overwhelming, especially for youth in foster care. The AIC is a safe and communal space for teens and young adults, ages 18-23, who are currently in foster care or have been in Philadelphia foster care.

Youth are matched with an AIC coach. They provide personalized help for youth, including:

Employment/career planning
Housing referrals
Enroll in college/vocational school
Complete high school/GED
Improve computer literacy
Achieve permanency
Expand their personal development

Eligibility

Older youth aged between 18-23 who are currently, or have ever been involved with the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. Have your case manager make a referral or call us at (215) 574-9194 to see if you are eligible.

AIC hours are Monday through Friday, 12 – 7 p.m.
