 10:30 AM Mayor Kenney to Speak at Striking Out Melanoma Press Conference
The Mayor, Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley, Phillies legend Mike Schmidt, representatives from Independence Blue Cross and the Richard David Kann Melanoma Foundation will announce the locations of 6 sun screen dispensers throughout the City. Philadelphia is serving as the pilot city for the Sun Smart America initiative.

11:30 AM Mayor Kenney to Attend World Heritage Day Celebration at Tilden Middle School
The Mayor will present a city proclamation as he joins the students at Tilden Middle School to celebrate the second annual World Heritage Day. World Heritage Day occurs annually on the 4th Thursday of May and is part of the World Heritage City Project, a joint initiative between the 200-member Global Philadelphia Association and the City of Philadelphia. Tilden Middle School is one of the first 9 community schools that launched in September. Community Schools are funded by the Philadelphia Beverage Tax.

2:40 PM Mayor Kenney to Attend Philabundance Food Backpack Distribution at Gideon School
The Mayor will meet with K-2nd grade students and help student volunteers and teachers distribute groceries as part of Philabundance’s pilot food backpack program. Gideon Elementary is one of the City’s nine community schools. The community schools initiative is funded by the Philadelphia Beverage Tax.

5:15 PM Mayor Kenney and Councilwoman Parker to Tour Olney Recreation Center
The Mayor, Councilwoman Cherelle Parker, Rebuild Executive Director Nicole Westerman and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Staff will tour Olney Recreation Center to highlight the diversity of programming offered at the facility and to demonstrate the need for Rebuild at city parks, libraries and recreation centers. Rebuild is made possible by the Philadelphia Beverage Tax.
