PHILADELPHIA – KIPP Philadelphia School students will perform at the Dell Music Center on Tuesday, August 22nd at 7pm. The musical performance will occur prior to the Dell’s free, outdoor screening of Moana, and a back-to-school backpack giveaway. The fifty KIPP Philadelphia students were invited to perform at the Dell because of their distinguished musical talents.

KIPP Philadelphia is proud to provide students with a well-rounded education through music and the arts. All five KIPP schools (2 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and 1 high school) have thriving music programs, including classes on instrumental music, music performance, choir, music history, and music production.

KIPP’s West Philadelphia elementary and middle schools have a partnership with the Philadelphia Orchestra. The partnership gives students access to the Orchestra, its musicians, instruments, and innovative music education programs while creating a K-8 youth orchestra in West Philadelphia. KIPP Philadelphia music students have performed at World Café Live, the Free Library, the Philadelphia Zoo, Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, the Barnes Foundation, the Mann Center, and soon, the Dell Music Center.

“At KIPP Philadelphia, we believe a college preparatory education includes not just math and reading, but also world languages, art, and of course, music.  We teach our students to express themselves in many ways, and the original pieces they’ll be performing tonight are a powerful example of that.  We thank the Dell Music Center for providing an opportunity for our students to share their musical gifts with Philadelphia families on a very special evening. ” – Marc Mannella, CEO of KIPP Philadelphia Schools.

The Dell Music Center provides opportunities for community partners to host performances and productions at the venue. These programs include Recovery Idol (a talent showcase for people in recovery), as well as productions by the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra and Philadanco.
