PHILADELPHIA—Mayor Jim Kenney, Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley and Acting Head of Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) David Jones have released the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate’s proposed legislation to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

“Once again the Republican run Senate shows how out of touch it is with working class people. The Senate proposed health care bill would deeply cut Medicaid which provides health insurance to 40% of Philadelphians. Those who will be affected the most are children, seniors in nursing homes and pregnant women. It should come as no surprise however that those who will benefit the most are the wealthy. We cannot afford to stand by and let this happen. Let your voice be heard by contacting your Senator and letting them know that repealing Obamacare is bad for America.”

Information on what Philadelphians can do to assist those who will be most affected can be found in the City’s Action Guide.
