Want to enjoy a beautiful afternoon hike and learn about the local impacts of climate change? Join Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s Urban Forestry & Ecosystems Management Division and the Office of Sustainability for a Plant Walk & Climate Change Monitoring Workshop next Thursday, July 14.

The tour will take place in Haddington Woods, one of Philadelphia’s largest forests, located on Cobbs Creek in West Philadelphia. Parks and Rec is piloting new forest restoration practices at Haddington Woods by working with citizen scientists to identify growing practices suitable for Philadelphia’s changing climate.

Participants will explore research sites in the forest through a series of observation exercises. Guided by staff from Parks & Recreation and the Office of Sustainability, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the history of the woods and learn about their future.

The walk will provide participants with the skills to observe ecological changes related to climate change in our region, as well as actions they can take to help Philadelphia adapt to climate change.

You can register for the free event, HERE.
