I’ve had the opportunity to visit many of Philadelphia’s parks and rec centers over the past year to highlight the need for our Rebuild initiative, a $500 million program to revitalize our parks, rec centers, and libraries. Over and over, I’m blown away by your passion and support for these neighborhood hubs.
It’s clear Philadelphians LOVE their parks—and every year we have a special, week-long opportunity to show it.
Investing in our public spaces has been proven to enhance public safety, increase educational opportunities, and create jobs and careers in Philadelphia communities. It’s why we passed the Philadelphia Beverage Tax to fund the Rebuild initiative.
But Rebuild will only be successful if it has the community behind it, and that starts with events like LOVE Your Park Week.
Over the past few months, a record number of people have asked how they can be more engaged in our communities. There’s no better place to start making a difference than right in your very own park.
