The deadline to register to vote in the Primary Election is less than a week away: Monday, April 17, 2017.
Recently, there have been a lot of calls for civic participation — and I couldn’t be prouder of the way Philadelphians are standing up to make sure everyone understands the values that we hold dear.
But the first step to civic participation really starts with one thing: Voting!
Today, it’s easier than ever to register to vote, check your voter registration, and more — all online!
- Find your voter registration status by visiting the Pennsylvania Department of State’s registration lookup site.
- Register to vote by visiting the Pennsylvania Department of State’s online voter registration site.
- Review sample ballots ahead of time on the City Commissioners website.
- Download an absentee ballot application from the City Commissioners website. You must return the absentee ballot application to the City Commissioners’ offices the Tuesday before the Primary Election; postmarks aren’t honored, so be sure to mail it in well ahead of time or even hand deliver it so you can receive and submit your ballot before the deadline, which is the Friday before the Primary Election.
- Find your polling place by inputting your address into the Philadelphia Voter App on the City Commissioners site.
Primary elections typically have lower voter turnout rates, but they’re just as important to the political process, especially for local city government.
