OEM And SEPTA Work Together For Public Notification Alerts

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management and SEPTA announce that SEPTA alerts are now available through ReadyPhiladelphia, the City’s mass notification system.

The alerts will provide SEPTA riders with another avenue to stay informed and receive real-time information on delays and service interruptions.

“ReadyPhiladelphia is a valuable resource, keeping those who visit, work or live in the city connected with important information. We are able to reach people with public safety notifications from the National Weather Service, Philadelphia Police, and Philadelphia Fire,” Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management Director Samantha Phillips said. “SEPTA has been a great partner of ours and we are happy to expand that relationship, keeping the public informed with transit alerts during emergency or non-emergency situations.”

SEPTA’s control center currently sends out travel alerts and transit delays through its app, website and Twitter feed. Partnering with the Office of Emergency Management through ReadyPhiladelphia expands SEPTA’s reach to riders along with creating a one-stop-shop for emergency-related alerts and notifications for customers.

“ReadyPhiladelphia provides a tremendous resource for SEPTA customers to get service updates and other information they need for their daily travels,” said General Manager Jeffrey D. Knueppel. “SEPTA is thrilled to partner with the Office of Emergency Management for this initiative, and we encourage our riders to sign up for ReadyPhiladelphia notifications.”

Riders can select any or all of the SEPTA alerts available through ReadyPhiladelphia:

  • Regional Rail
  • Market-Frankford Line
  • Broad Street Line
  • City & Suburban Trolley Lines
  • Norristown High Speed Line
  • City & Suburban Bus Routes

Riders who sign up for SEPTA alerts can choose to receive information 24-hours a day or 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and weekends. Alerts are sent as text, e-mail or push notifications though the ContactBridge app.
