Office of Adult Education

What we do

The Office of Adult Education (OAE) offers all adults in Philadelphia the education they need to be successful at work and within their families and communities. We improve literacy among the estimated 550,000 adults in the City so they can strengthen their workplace skills, find and keep good jobs, or go back to school.

Our work includes:

  • myPLACE℠, a way for Philadelphia adults to take classes and find career information.
  • KEYSPOT, a program that provides Philadelphia residents with free access to computers and the internet.
  • Digital Skills & Bicycle Thrills, a four-week course that trains participants in city bike riding and digital literacy.
  • Training for volunteer tutors and mentors in ESL, literacy, GED preparation assistance, and other education programs.
