Mayor's Commission on People with Disabilities

Making sure the City is inclusive to people of all abilities through advocacy and education.

Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities

What we do

The Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities (MCPD) advises the Mayor’s Office on disability issues and makes sure the City is a place that supports all people regardless of mobility, vision, cognitive, and hearing abilities.

We connect people to services for disability-related issues, and work with the City so that its policies and programs support the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, and other laws that impact people with disabilities.

Our work helps the City be a place where those with disabilities have equal access to:

  • Safe housing.
  • Employment opportunities.
  • Voting.
  • Barrier-free design, like sidewalk ramps.
  • A good education.
  • Recreation, arts, and culture.
  • Behavioral health services.
  • Health and human services.
