This month Philadelphia students walked on stages across the city to receive their high school diplomas. There were many celebrations, far and wide, and a lot to celebrate. Here are 8 favorite moments from the 12 Community Schools in Philadelphia. Congratulations to the Class of 2018!

1. At every graduation, the moment students took to the stage made us proud. These students are as amazing as they are determined.

2. The moments just before a graduation are so exciting! Graduates of South Philadelphia High School were ready to celebrate the hard work that got them to this point.

3. The stories of our students’ journeys to graduation inspire us. South Philadelphia High School’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian overcame language barriers to form an incredible friendship.

4. The graduating class of Dobbins CTE High School received a big shout out from Superintendent Dr. William Hite.

5. Although not every student could make it to their ceremonies, all graduates were honored. Dobbins principal Dr. Toni Damon went to Hahnemann Hospital to hand deliver a diploma! Now this is what we call community!

6. Of course, high schoolers weren’t the only ones to graduate. Did you know that Gompers Middle School held their first 8th grade graduation this year?

7. George Washington High School’s ceremony included flags from all over the world including the LGBTQIA+ and Special Olympics flags to represent their diverse student body, and inclusion for all.

8. Lastly, of course, what would a graduation be without everyone tossing their caps in celebration? Congratulations to all 2018 graduates! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
