City of Philadelphia, PIDC and Partners Relaunch Philadelphia Delivers Website for Business and Talent Attraction

PHILADELPHIA — Following the submission of Philadelphia’s Amazon HQ2 proposal, the City of Philadelphia, PIDC and a group of partners set out to repurpose the website that served as the platform for their interactive response to the tech company’s search for a second headquarters. The overhauled website was revealed today at philadelphiadelivers.com.

Key members of the original team that led the Amazon HQ2 bid reconvened to amend the Philadelphia Delivers website and accompanying videos to prepare them for more general use as a tool for marketing Philadelphia and the region as a place for talent and business growth. The revamped site includes re-cut videos, updated maps, and other new content such as an overview page filled with facts and figures about the region, that partners can utilize for the purpose of business and talent attraction.

“The Amazon process was a turning point for Philadelphia,” said Harold T. Epps, Commerce Director for the City of Philadelphia. “It allowed us to capture the city’s innovative spirit and come together around a shared message that we projected to the rest of the country. Now, we have a chance to keep that momentum going and continue showing our city in the best light using the upgraded Philadelphia Delivers site.”

In the months following the Amazon HQ2 pitch, Philadelphia has received inquiries from a number of businesses who directly referenced the bid and its creative materials as a catalyst for their interest. The recent updates to philadelphiadelivers.com make the site more applicable across industries and increase the options for how it can be used.

“The tools we developed for the Philadelphia Delivers proposal were able to tell the Philadelphia region’s story in a compelling way that gained the attention of individuals and businesses across the country — even the globe,” said PIDC President John Grady. “By repositioning the strong materials we already had, partners throughout the region are now empowered with a shared set of materials they can use to pitch our city for business attraction and growth.”

The Philadelphia Delivers site will serve as central reference point for anyone interested in learning more about Greater Philadelphia while a long-term identity process and overarching brand development for the region is still ongoing. Philadelphia is currently taking part in the Global Identity Cohort of the Brookings Institution’s Global Cities Initiative. Through the Global Identity Cohort, Philadelphia has the opportunity to access in-depth research on current international perceptions of the region and be provided with the roadmap for developing a brand for Greater Philadelphia. On May 31, the Global Identity project team released an RFP to find a consultant to assist with their Brookings activities and the next phase of the brand development process.

The City of Philadelphia, PIDC, Select Greater Philadelphia, PHLCVB, Visit Philadelphia and Campus Philly worked with a creative team made up of The Tactile Group, Leveler Media, Azavea and Skai Blue Media to make changes to the website and supplemental materials that reflected feedback collected from members of the Greater Philadelphia business community during a series of focus groups. The revised site also includes a new contact page where businesses interested in operating in Philadelphia can learn more about and connect with leading organizations in the city.

Philadelphia’s Amazon HQ2 proposal remains available online at public.philadelphiadelivers.com.
