Did you know that new rowhouses in Philadelphia are required to have home fire sprinklers? On the day before Home Fire Sprinkler Day — observed on Saturday, May 19 — the Fire Department is offering a tour of a sprinklered rowhome, an interview with the homeowner, props to illustrate how sprinkler systems work, and experts to speak on the topic. Companies will also distribute fact sheets about home fire sprinklers in the neighborhood.
B-roll showing the difference between a fire in a sprinklered vs. non-sprinklered space can be viewed here and is available upon request from the PFD. Please credit the University of Pennsylvania.
