The City of Philadelphia recently mailed notifications to residents about the risks of ignoring their Real Estate Tax bill. If you are a property owner and missed the March 31 deadline, you may have received one.

Not paying Real Estate Tax on time means you already owe additional money. Ignoring the problem will make things worse. If you do nothing, your property may eventually be taken to a Sheriff Sale.

The City sold more than 5,500 properties at Sheriff Sale in 2017.

The notification also tells owners how to resolve the problem. Paying in full is always the best option. When you can’t pay the full amount, payment agreements are available. Programs include an updated Owner-Occupied Payment Agreement (OOPA).

Besides mailing the notification in English, we’ve posted it online in eight other languages:

  • Spanish
  • Chinese
  • Vietnamese
  • Russian
  • French
  • Khmer
  • Portuguese
  • Korean

Save your property today, and help us spread the word!
