PHILADELPHIA – In light of recent school shootings and the gun violence that impacts youth daily, the City of Philadelphia today released an action guide on Gun Control Policies. This guide informs citizens of current federal and state-level gun policies and provides information on City programs and actions citizens can take.

“Gun violence is an issue that has affected far too many of Philadelphia’s children and families,” said Mayor Kenney. “I’m inspired by the recent actions that young people have taken to use their voice and make a difference in our city. Philadelphia can’t wait any longer for the state or Congress to take action on this issue. I encourage all citizens who are passionate about reducing gun violence to take action and advocate for their communities.”

On March 27, the Philadelphia Youth Commission and the Mayor’s Millennial Advisory Committee are co-hosting a special #PHLYouthTalks for Philadelphia’s youth on gun violence. Youth are invited to share how gun violence has impacted their lives. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register.
