PHILADELPHIA – The Mayor’s Task Force to Combat the Opioid Epidemic in Philadelphia will hold a series of community meetings for residents to learn more about its work, how the city is implementing is recommendations, as well as how the City will work to decrease overdose deaths through its support of Comprehensive User Engagement Sites (CUES). With an estimated 1,200 deaths attributed to overdoses in 2017 – more than four times the number of homicides – the opioid epidemic has become a public health crisis.
Representatives from the Department of Public Health and Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, along with other Task Force members and people with lived experience, will facilitate an instructive presentation and discussion.
