Last week, the City of Philadelphia took part in Career and Technical Education (CTE) month by recognizing 22 students from School District of Philadelphia CTE programs. Students were nominated by their principals and teachers for showing excellence in CTE and leadership in their communities.
Mayor Kenney congratulated the students on their hard work and shared the impact that CTE programs have on Philadelphia’s economy.
“Congratulations to all of you, for being selected as a stand out, star student at your respective schools,” said Mayor Kenney. “The work you are doing now will pay off ten-fold when you leave school and prepare for a career in the real world. CTE careers help us grow our economy, decrease unemployment, and reduce poverty. Please remember, the City is always here to support you in whatever you may need.”
After each student received their award, students and guests were invited to attend a reception. Students chatted with Mayor Kenney and shared some of their favorite projects they’ve worked on as well as what they planned to do once they graduated from their programs. Mayor Kenney was pleased to hear that some students were already placed in jobs with City departments.
It was a great night to show some much-deserved recognition to these amazing students. Congratulations to all of the students who were recognized for Excellence in Career and Technical Education!
