Free pretzels, music, and live tax advice highlighted this year’s Tax Payer Appreciation Day. On Friday, February 23, 2018 the Department of Revenue took the opportunity to thank the more than 9 out of 10 Philadelphians who pay their taxes in full and on time. Their taxes fund the School District and allow the City to run essential services.

“It’s important to acknowledge [taxpayers’] efforts and their loyalty, even in a small way,” Mayor Jim Kenney said. “Without it, trash won’t get picked up, police won’t get paid, fire department can’t respond, and libraries and rec centers would close.”

Mayor Kenney and Revenue’s executive team greeted taxpayers in person at the Municipal Services Building. They also thanked Philadelphians via Facebook Live. They answered questions and gave tax advice during the online broadcast.

A quartet from the Philadelphia High School for Creative & Performing Arts rounded out the day’s events with live music.
